THE BUZZ: Indie-horror stalwarts Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton offer up a sequel to their breakout hit The Collector as the duo begins to tackle more major-studio fare: they did some work on Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim; their screenplay Rise is set-up at Warner Bros.; and recently they've been tasked with rewrite work on Waterproof. I think The Collectorresonated with its audience because in some ways it's a stripped down version of the Sawserial with fewer moral imperatives.
A man who escapes from the vicious grips of the serial killer known as "The Collector" is blackmailed to rescue an innocent girl from the killer's booby-trapped warehouse.
